You are almost at the end of your time in Key Stage 3 and
about to start your last 2 years of compulsory education.
However the majority of you will continue your education
voluntarily for one or two more years in the school 6th
Form or college.
Most people choose to come back to the Sixth Form and,
building on what they have done in Upper School, work for
further qualifications while enjoying the more relaxed
atmosphere of Tomlinson Hall.
These are vital years
for you. They should help you to grow
into capable adults, ready to become successful partners,
parents, workers and citizens. It is more than
ever-important today to learn to become independent and to
be able to accept responsibility for what you are and will
become. School is a place for second chances but the world
outside is tough. You need all the education you can get.
Ask any adult what it means to be redundant, to be
unemployed - and the value of good qualifications.
As you progress into Key Stage 4 education you are starting
on a three or four year course leading to GCSE
qualifications in 2010, Vocational Qualifications (G.N.V.Q). or AS levels in 2011 and A2
level qualifications ready for employment or Higher
Education in 2012!
