Coursework 60%
a) A range of activities undertaken during the
course. b) Candidates will be able to make a personal
response to their own experiences, environment and culture. c) Three units to be selected and submitted for
assessment. d) Set and marked by the teacher, subject to
moderation.

Controlled Test 40%
a) Will include a range of topics and stimulus
material from which candidates will be required to
select one. b) Ten hour time limit. c) Up to four weeks allowed for
preliminary/supporting studies. d) Set by the Exam Group and marked by the teacher,
subject to moderation.
Coursework:
Each student will produce a folio of many different types of
work, which may include both flat and three-dimensional
projects.
Content of the Course:
The study of Art and Design helps you to develop Drawing and
Painting skills using different techniques. You can also
try various print making techniques such as block and
silk-screen printing. You will be able to create work using
three-dimensional processes.
Skills:
Students will:
i) record by drawing or painting from what is seen
ii) understand more about materials and their
processes
iii) understand more about how other artists create
their work
iv) gain confidence in the ability to apply these
skills.
Career Prospects: The course is a start for further study in many design based
jobs.
