Assessment:
Coursework and Controlled Test
Coursework 60%
a) A range of activities undertaken during the
course. b) Candidates will be able to make a personal response to their own
experiences, environment and culture. c) Two or three units to be selected and submitted for assessment. d) Set and marked by the teacher.
Controlled Test: 40%
a) Will include a range of topics and stimulus material from which
candidates will be required to select one. b) Ten hour time limit. c) Up to four weeks allowed for preliminary/supporting studies. d) Set by the Exam Group and marked by the teacher.
Coursework:
Each of the 3 coursework units lasts about 1 ½ terms, from
the first planning and development of ideas to finishing the
whole project.
Content of the Course -
Students will be introduced to a range of art, craft and
design from the past and recent times, including European
and non-European examples. Their response to these examples
must be shown through a variety of practical activities,
which demonstrate the student’s understanding. Students
will be introduced to mixed media through some or all of the
following:

Drawing
2. Painting
3. Collage
4. Printing
5. I.T.
6. Weaving
7. Applique
8. Papier-mâché
Career Prospects:
This course is a starting point for further study leading
towards many art based jobs. |
