Content of Course
Exam Results
Assessment:
The course consists of 50% Coursework and 50% Examination.
Students will be entered for either the Foundation
or Higher tier examination.

Foundation Tier Grades G to C are awarded.
The examination is 2 hours.
●
Higher Tier Grades C to A* are awarded.
The examination is 2 hours.
Students sit one paper.
All students study a common course in Year 10 and part of
Year 11. Performance in Mock examinations and the quality
of coursework will determine which Tier students will be
entered for at the end of the course.
Coursework:
There are 3 pieces of coursework:

Individual Task (30%)
An Observation study of a child
●
Two Resource Tasks (10% each)
Practical Investigations on topics from the specification.
Those wishing to study this course should have access to, or
contact with, a child under the age of 5 years, whom they
can study.
Students will be expected to keep a diary containing
observations of the Child's development. The diary should
include photos, drawings, activities and record sheets
completed during the visits.
