Welcome to the Comenius Project

The Comenius project “European Voices” is a partnership between pupils, parents and teachers within four schools: Polesworth International Language College UK, HRS Holdorf Germany College, Colegio Ntra Sra del Carmen Fundacion Educacion Catolica, Spain, and Gimnazjum im marszalka Jozefa Pilsudskiego w Psarach, Poland.

Through this project we have learned about each others traditions, music, culture, dance, geography, political history and language. We have experienced each others lives and we have made many new friends along our journey through this project.

The Project

The Project can be split into three phases.

Phase One:

Each country selected a musical piece:
Let it Be,
Ode to Joy,
Los Ninos,
Marsz Dobrovsky

Each piece of music was performed by the country who selected it and then sent to one of the partner schools to be performed by their students. The students who tried the musical piece out recorded their efforts and sent a dvd of their work to the original school who then evaluated the piece.

From each of the songs, the students who tried it out were able to sample a foreign language they may not have tried before. They also were able to find out a little bit more about the geography of the country from which the song came.

Phase Two

We are currently in Phase Two.
Phase two looks at traditional dance:
Abbots Bromley Horn Dance
Damme Carnival
Tin Tan
La Polonaise

This is being conducted in a similar fashion to Phase One with each country trying out a dance from a partner school and then having their attempts evaluated.
