The National School Trampolining ChampionshipsFive teams from Polesworth travelled to The BGA National Schools Trampoline Championships held at Cocks Moors Woods Leisure Centre in Birmingham, to compete against the best of the rest of Britain’s schools. In the Under 19 Boys Novices Competition, Polesworth had two teams taking part. Against very strong opposition, the ‘A Team’ of YING HUANG, DOMINIC JONES, ALEX SMART and JAMES BAGNALL all bounced well finishing with a final Team Score of 143.80 ahead of Whitley Bay High School and Taunton College, giving Polesworth THE NATIONAL SCHOOLS U19 BOYS TEAM TRAMPOLINING CHAMPIONSHIP. This was another outstanding achievement by all the lads. Individually YING finished in 4th place, only 0.1 away from a podium place and DOMINIC in 5th place. Polesworth’s ‘B’ Team of TOM CHALLIS, LUKE CHADWICK-JONES, KIERON CHATFIELD and JAKE WEST also all competed very well to finish in 5th place. Two quality teams in the first 5 in the country is outstanding.
In the Under 15 Boys Competition we had just one Team taking part. The team of JOHN COTTERILL, MATTHEW BOLTON, ALEX CRUMPET and SHANE WEST all gave their best performances, with ALEX finishing in 4th place individually, JOHN in 5th and MATTHEW in 6th. The team finished in a podium 3rd place narrowly behind Hailsham Community School and Hall Mead School. In the Under 13 Boys Competition, our ‘A’ Team of NIGEL HUGHES, ALEX CORBETT, JACK BAGNALL and JAMES DONOVAN taking part in their first ever National Championships, also gained a very creditable 3rd podium spot, behind All Saints College and Bodiam Manor School. Our ‘B’ Team of ADAM TURNER, RYAN WEBB and JACK SEDDON all gave their best and finished in 6th place. These superb performances by all the lads confirms Polesworth’s position as one of the top boys trampolining schools in Britain. Getting five teams into the National Finals is a major achievement, for one team to become National Champions, and teams in the other two age groups to get podium positions was better than any other school on the day. The boys would like to thank Mr Clarke and Mr Williams for their support and encouragement on the day. |
