Teaching & Learning CornerGood teaching and Learning and worthwhile curriculum development are to be found at the heart of any successful school. Every year schools are bombarded with initiatives (some statutory) from government bodies such as the DfES and QCA and are expected by OfSTED to undertake rigorous self-evaluation of the education provided for students. As you are well aware, OfSTED adjudged teaching and learning at Polesworth to be very good and praised the excellent examination results achieved by our students. The steady improvement in our examination results are, of course, directly linked to the hard work and increasing ambition of students, with important parental support and encouragement. It is also a result of the dedicated hard work of teachers who are experts in their specialist subjects and know how to teach effectively. It is these teachers as members of subject departments who evaluate the worth of external curriculum initiatives and implement those changes which are beneficial to our students. We would like to use this area of the website to inform you of what we consider to be important whole-school teaching and learning/curriculum developments, or, indeed, interesting innovation within specific departments. We realise we cannot tell you everything which is going on, but we can give you a snapshot of this fundamental area of school life!
