Trampolinists from Polesworth International Language College dominated The
Midlands Schools Championships held at Cocks Moor Woods Leisure Centre in
Birmingham. The boys won all the Team events and most of the Individual
honours that they were entered for.
In the Under 19 Boys Novices Competition, the reigning Under 15 National
Champion DOMINIC JONES won a very closely fought competition only 0.6 points
ahead of team mate YING HUANG, with ALEX SMART and JAMES BAGNALL in equal
3rd place. Other team members LUKE CHADWICK-JONES (5th), KIERON CHATFIELD
(6th) and THOMAS CHALLIS 7th gave good support. These superb performances
resulted in Team Championship 1st and 2nd places for the Polesworth lads.
The Under 15 Boys Novices Competition was also a clean sweep for the
Polesworth competitors. JOHN COTTERILL became Midlands Champion supported by
MATTHEW BOLTON (2nd), County Champion SHANE WEST (3rd), ALEX CRUMPTON (4th),
ALEX WILLIAMS (5th), ANDREW MORGAN (6th) and BEN EIDUKAS (7th) ahead of
competitors from President Kennedy, South Bromsgrove and RGSAO Schools.
Polesworth again took first and second Team places.
In the Under 13 Boys Competition the Polesworth youngsters were taking part
in their first ever Midlands Competition. The individual competition was won
by Mitchell Titley from Wood Green High School, but Polesworth lads took the
next four places with NIGEL HUGHES in 2nd place, JACK BAGNALL in 3rd place
and ADAM TURNER in 4th place. Other team members THOMAS HOUGHTON (5th),
JAMES DONOVAN (7th) and RYAN WEBB (8th) also did well. The Polesworth ‘A’
Team won the Team Competition with their ‘B’ Team in second place ahead of
Wood Green High.
All the Polesworth boys will now represent both Warwickshire and The
Midlands in The Central Zonal Championships to be held on the 20th January,
and try to qualify for The National Schools Championships.
“The lads work very hard at both trampolining and gymnastics. Only the
weekend before, they were all performing at The Birmingham Tattoo at The NIA
as part of The Kangaroos Gymnastics Display Team. We are all very proud of
their amazing achievements and hope that they do well in the next round of
the competition”
