Since September 06, our Chinese Language Assistant has been teaching Mandarin
Chinese twice a week in lunchtime and twilight clubs as well as to some Y3 and
Y4 pupils at Dordon and Birchwood.
From September 07, all our Y7 students will be learning Mandarin Chinese and
Chinese culture as part of their curriculum. This will be a truly exciting
experience for all involved. It is also likely that a similar course will be
available in our new International Centre as part of our outreach programme
available to our local community from October 2007.
Before all that, 17 of our students (Y10 to 13) will enjoy a fortnight in
Beijing on a Mandarin Chinese Immersion course sponsored by the British Council.
We hope to build on the success of this new adventure. So, if you missed the
trip this time, look out for it in the Academic Year 2008-2009. It will be open
to all year groups.
