2008 marks the first year that Polesworth International
Language College has entered a team into the West Midlands Young
Enterprise Competition. The competition involves students setting up
their own business, using their own ideas, raising their own capital
by either fund raising events or the selling of shares and finally
running the business at a profit. These ideas are then pitched
against those of local schools in the West Midlands area
Polesworth’s Young Enterprise Team comprises of 9, Year 12,
enthusiastic and dedicated budding entrepreneurs . They have created
a company called ‘Party Animals’. Party Animals provide a
tailor-made, enjoyable and hassle free birthday experience for
children aged between 5 and 10 years old. Their mission is to become
the local consumers first choice for their children’s parties as
they provide a quality and trustworthy service that will be an
unforgettable experience for their children.
The first stage of this competition involved the writing of a
business plan to support their business idea. After a great deal of
hard work and dedication Party Animals received second prize. This
was a remarkable achievement considering the tough competition that
they faced within the West Midlands area.
The next stages of this competition include; the running of a trade
stall, writing a company report and a final presentation given at
Drayton Manor in front of the Young Enterprise West Midlands judges.
It will be on that particular evening that the West Midlands winners
are identified which will then go forward to represent the area in
the National Young Enterprise competition.
