A huge thank you must go out to all of the hundreds of people who
came along to join the fun at this year’s Summer Festival. The weather
was perfect for an afternoon of stalls, raffles, tombolas and of course
- teacher saturation!
This year saw the participation of some great new attractions and
stalls, including some innovative ideas from our Year 7 and Year 8
students.
The day was only the success it was because of the hard work of
volunteers, be they staff, students, parents or friends of Polesworth
International Language College. Thank you all.
I would also like to extend my personal thanks to all members of the
House Parent’s Liaison Committee and to Mr. Williams, for their patience
and help in preparation for this my first festival.
Thanks also for all of the donations of prizes for raffles and
tombolas. We were overwhelmed by the generosity of donors, and every
item was welcome.
It is a little sad that Mr Clarke is to say farewell to what must be
the highlight of his time at Polesworth—’Soak the Teacher’. A couple of
pupils bagged a real bargain by paying just £2 to pour a whole bucket of
water over their headteacher!
We were also pleased to note the attendance of RT Hon. Mike O’Brien
M.P. ‘Pie the Parliamentarian’ did not feature in this years festival,
although it has been proposed for future events …
It was a real pleasure to see a community coming together and
enjoying a great day in the sun. People had a great time and over £3000
was raised for the school. This money will of course be used to benefit
the students of the school.
So thanks again to all involved and I look forward to seeing you all
at the next House event.
Mr. A Goodhead,
Head of Year 10
Co-ordinator of Parents’ Liaison
