5/06/08 Police and School Update

The school is very fortunate to have such good relations with our local Police Force and these three PCSO`s are regularly in school chatting to students and building friendships with them. They are:

PCSO Mick Harle – 6154
PCSO Louise Moore – 6021
PCSO Julie Arbukle – 6147

If students wish to see a PCSO they should see Ms J Bailey (Student Support Manager) to arrange a meeting – if needed these meetings can be confidential.

PCSO Louise Moore held a successful drop-in where anti–attack alarms have been given to the students, free of charge. She also did a presentation to Yr 7 students about Alcohol Misuse, this is now being extended to Yrs 8 & 9.

Litter outside of school

This is an ongoing problem, PCSO Julie Arbukle and Geoff Williams (Deputy Head) have done regular patrols of the area at lunchtimes to remind students not to drop litter. Mr Williams and PCSO Mick Harle are in negotiation with the dog warden to get the message across – the dog warden can, and will, hand out `on the spot fines`. The PCSO`s will be continuing  with the patrols.

Parking outside of school

This is also an on-going problem. The volume of traffic, especially when the school buses are there, is increasing. Everyone`s safety is paramount. Hopefully the 6th formers will very soon be able to park in a designated area on the school field and parents are asked to park further away from school at drop off and pick up times.

Consumption of Alcohol

As the summer approaches and the lighter, warmer nights are here, the number of young people drinking alcohol in the parks is increasing. The Police will be taking the alcohol off them and letters will be sent home to parents.
