18/03/08 National Science and Engineering Week
10th-14th March 2008 was National Science and Engineering Week.  To celebrate this, the Science Department have enrolled onto a National Experiment called ‘Readiness To Learn’. The experiment is in the form of an online anonymous questionnaire that takes students about 10 minutes to complete. It is hoped that by the end of the week around 250-300 students from years 7, 8 and 9 will have completed the questionnaire which asks students about things such as their diet, exercise, the number of hours sleep they have and how these factors, amongst others, impact on their learning.

It is hoped that around 100,000 students from 800 schools will also take part in the experiment. The experimental results will be available to schools by the end of March. It is hoped that the findings can be used to advise students on how they can change their lifestyles to give them the best chance of arriving to school each day with a readiness to learn.
